The Epiphany of Christ has been celebrated in the church since the 3rd century, originating in the Eastern Church. Originally observed as the celebration of the baptism of Jesus, it was one of three principal feast days of the church (the other two being Easter and Pentecost). Introduced into the Western Church in the 4th century, the character of the observance has shifted from the baptism to the manifestation of Christ to the Gentile nations, understood through the visitation of the Magi. The Sundays following the Epiphany all have a particular focus as Jesus is revealed in the world as our Incarnate God in Christ. Come celebrate with us and learn more about this very special church season.

Going to any church for the first time can be a challenge.
Churches, like any group, have their own vocabulary that
they all know and understand but which can be daunting for a visitor. We hope this short list helps.
Testimony by Philip Milton
I ,Philip Milton was born and raised in India as a Christian. I moved to Springfield/Eugene in the state of Oregon in the year 2006 .I have been active in church ever since my childhood .When I first moved to Springfield/Eugene I searched online for the churches which were around my neighborhood. I found St.Johns Episcopal church in Springfield online.
Rev. Peter Fones was the pastor then and now. I had read in a book called “The Journey” by Billy Graham in which he talks about finding the right church. In his book he asks people to visit different churches and then find the church where a symbiotic relationship is present . A church which contributes to your faith and to which you as a person can contribute to its growth .This being my mantra ,I took a sojourn of the churches in Springfield/Eugene starting with St.Johns . I went to all different types of churches for about two years .
I finally came back to St Johns .St.Johns was a church which has a special place for me .I was moved by the concern and personal interest the pastor had about me .I was missed by the church congregation when I could not go to church on Sundays. I was also able to serve in the church. I was looking at a relationship which was growing between myself and the church . The church and the congregation made me feel welcome at all times. I in return was able to serve the church .
It has been four years now . I love St.Johns and its congregation. My family serves along with me in our church .I being a stranger in this country , now have a very big family .We are blessed here at St.Johns.
